From wild hairstyles to a new dean, the UO’s College of Education is keeping things interesting this summer.
Far from hitting the summer doldrums, the college recently saw its hallways brightened by Family and Human Services Program director Shoshana Kerewsky. Kerewsky switched to a brightly colored mohawk hairdo as part of a fundraising tactic to help send students on a Courts for Kids service learning trip next year.
You can read about all about her “punk-do” attitude here.
The college also marked an outstanding accomplishment by one of its undergraduate students, Mariam Admasu, who earned a summer research fellowship to study at-risk youth. It’s something few undergraduates experience, and Admasu was one of only 72 students nationwide to win one of the National Institutes of Health grants.
And finally, the college is preparing to welcome its new dean, Randy Kamphaus, who starts Sept. 2. Kamphaus comes from Georgia State University, where he served as dean of the education college from 2007 to 2012 and held a position as a distinguished research professor.
A story introducing Kamphaus to the UO community can be found here.
