Oregon Gov. Kate Brown has nominated two people to serve on the Board of Trustees of the University of Oregon, filling slots that will be vacated by trustees who are stepping down this summer.

The governor has nominated Jenny Ulum to fill the seat of founding board member and board chair, Chuck Lillis, while Lillian Moses is the candidate to take over trustee Jimmy Murray’s seat as the nonfaculty staff representative on the board. If confirmed by the Senate Committee on Rules in June, the two nominees would join the board on July 1.

Ulum is nominated for a four-year term that runs through June 2026, and Moses would serve a two-year term running through June 2024.

Lillis is one of the original trustees appointed when the UO created its own board in 2014. He was elected as chair in 2014 and has guided the board in that role through his eight-year tenure. Murray, the technology specialist and student coordinator for the UO’s Mathematics Library and Allan Price Science Commons and Research Library, has served on the board since 2017.

Ulum spent much of her career managing public affairs for health care organizations before starting her own public relations firm, The Ulum Group, which she ran from 1995 to 2008. She returned to the health care field before taking on her current position as senior director of communications for King Estate Winery. She has an undergraduate degree in communications and sociology from Linfield University and a master’s in journalism from the UO. She has served on the boards of many local agencies and was named Eugene’s First Citizen in 2018.

Moses is the director of housing capital construction at the University of Oregon. She oversees planning, design, and capital construction of repair and improvement projects developed within University Housing. She earned her bachelor’s degree in architecture from the UO and served as a student representative on the Erb Memorial Union board of directors from 2005 through 2008.
