Whether beautiful or unusual, whimsical or provocative, the human figure is a major focal point in artistic expression. The University of Oregon Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art will explore the human condition in its new exhibition, “The Human Touch: Selections from the RBC Wealth Management Collection,” on display from April 26 through Sept. 14.

The exhibition features 40 pieces by international contemporary artists, all of which explore creative interpretations of the human figure. Ranging in scale and media, the pieces include works by Radcliffe Bailey, John Baldessari, Chuck Close, Lalla Essaydi, Roland Fischer, Dinh Q. Lê, Roy Lichtenstein, Hung Liu, Elizabeth Peyton, T.L. Solien and Jaune Quick-to-See Smith.

"We are so pleased to partner with RBC Wealth Management on this exhibition," says JSMA executive director Jill Hartz.  "All of the artists selected for our presentation are among the finest and most thought provoking in the world today.  We are excited to introduce many of them to our community for the first time and to give students a rare opportunity to see how these works were constructed in person."

“The Human Touch” opens with a free, public reception on Friday, April 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Solien, one of the exhibit’s artists, will present an artist's talk on April 26 at 2 p.m., followed by an exhibition tour with Solien, Hartz, and exhibition curator Don McNeil.
