Capture the holiday spirit on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with 22 different Christmas and Hanukkah specials from KWAX Classical Oregon, the University of Oregon’s all-classical public radio station.
Beginning at 8 a.m. Dec. 24 the station, at 91.1 FM, will showcase some of the world’s greatest orchestras and choral groups.
Christmas Eve highlights include performances by the Canadian Brass, “365 Holidays,” at 3 p.m., Chicago a cappella’s “A Hanukkah Celebration” at 4 p.m. and Handel’s “Messiah” with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m.
On Christmas Day, listeners can enjoy the annual St. Olaf Christmas concert at 8 a.m., along with performances by the Tabernacle Choir at 11 a.m. and Chicago’s “Music of the Baroque Holiday” program at noon.
Musical Director Peter van de Graaff and Program and Operations Specialist Rocky Lamanna said they have gathered the best performances to enhance the audience’s overall holiday experience.
“Listeners will enjoy a wonderful selection of classically arranged Christmas and Hanukkah music from morning through the early evening hours on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day,” Lamanna said.
The station’s broad network of transmitters and translators allow listeners across the state to tune in to this year’s 2019 KWAX holiday lineup.
