Campus Planning and Facilities Management is launching a project that will help define opportunities in the north campus area formerly known as the Riverfront Research Park.

The North Campus Conditional Use Permit Project is necessary to allow the university to address future potential uses and opportunities for the roughly 70-acre area.

Based on the Eugene land use code and recommendations from the Campus Physical Framework Vision Project, the North Campus Conditional Use Permit Project consists of three key elements:

• A conceptual study of the university’s land between the railroad tracks and the Willamette River.
• A master site plan for the north campus area delineated by the S-RP zone, required for the city’s land use application.
• A land use application package for city review through the conditional use permit process and concurrent applications.

“The university has been working with constituent groups to gather information and identify opportunities as part of an ongoing communications plan,” said Emily Eng, planning associate and project manager. “Over the course of this yearlong project, we will solicit feedback from the community and share project milestones via Around the O.”

This fall, campus planning will host communitywide open houses and a university neighbors meeting to review and comment on the draft master site plan.
