A proposed charter between Information Services and UO Libraries will be the subject of a campus town hall meeting this month as part of the Transform IT process.
Provost Scott Coltrane, interim Chief Information Officer Chris Krabiel and Dean of Libraries Adriene Lim will host the meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 22. It runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Room 41/42, Knight Library. A videoconference link to UO’s Portland campus will be in White Stag 366D.
Officials will present a summary of the proposed charter and discuss the next steps in adopting the document. They and other key staff from Information Services and UO Libraries also will be available to answer questions.
Information Services and UO Libraries are the central units that lead, manage and provide major components of the university’s information technology infrastructure and services. The draft charter delineates the division of responsibilities among the two units and others.
The development of the charter is an important step in Transform IT, a process to better coordinate the UO’s information technology resources in support of President Michael Schill’s initiatives to improve academic and research excellence. That process is being informed by consultant Harvey Blustain’s 2016 report on the reorganization of UO technology resources and feedback on the report gathered in fall 2016.
Team members presented the draft charter to IT staff on campus earlier this month.
More information about Transform IT, including a draft of the charter and a report on the 2016 survey results, is available on the provost's website. Feedback on the draft charter can be emailed to provost@uoregon.edu.
