National Science Foundation Director Sethuraman Panchanathan will visit the University of Oregon campus Monday, Aug. 26. He will deliver a presentation followed by a question-and-answer session at a 2 p.m. event open to the university community.
Titled “Innovation anywhere, opportunities everywhere: accelerating the frontiers of science and technology through talent, ideas and innovation,” Panchanathan’s talk will take place in the Beetham Seminar Room at the Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact.
A leader in science, engineering and education with more than three decades of experience, Panchanathan is a computer scientist and engineer. He will be the first NSF director to visit the university.
Panchanathan will also meet with faculty, staff, students and external partners to learn about UO research and discuss how public research universities contribute to economic growth and the future workforce.
