IntroDUCKtion, the University of Oregon’s summer orientation program for incoming freshmen and transfer students, is in full swing.

The program introduces new students and their families to life at the UO. Students meet with academic advisers, register for fall classes and sign up for Freshman Interest Groups, aka FIGs.

Parents come too, and learn about the campus community, resources for family members and how to let go of their charges come fall.

A total of 12 sessions take place, including eight for incoming freshmen, two for transfer  students, one session in May for students who enroll in winter, spring or summer, and one session that takes place in Hawaii.

All told, more than 3,280 freshmen and 800 transfer students will attend IntroDUCKtion sessions this year, said Cora Bennett, director of Student Orientation Programs.

One new feature of this year’s IntroDUCKtion is a mobile app, for both iPhones and Androids.
