The University of Oregon’s incoming faculty members will have an opportunity to meet and get oriented to the UO at this year’s New Faculty Orientation.
The Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs will hold the full-day orientation session Monday, Sept. 18. Tenure-track and nontenure-track faculty members are invited to join Provost Jayanth Banavar to kick off the academic year.
“I am delighted to welcome our new faculty members. I, too, am new to the university, and I am looking forward to learning alongside our new colleagues,” said Banavar, who arrived on campus in July.
This year’s orientation will focus on engaging new faculty members with the university’s mission and providing opportunities for dialogue around research and teaching excellence and the student experience.
In a departure from previous orientations offered by the provost’s office, this year’s event will be specific to faculty members and will not include officers of administration. A customized orientation program for officers of administration is in development to supplement other onboarding opportunities offered by the Office of Human Resources.
Registration is available on the new faculty portal.
