The University of Oregon invites Ducks and local community members to an open house Wednesday, March 13, to hear about and discuss what will become the Next Generation Housing Plan for the east side of campus.
The event runs from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Giustina Ballroom in the Ford Alumni Center and is open to UO students, faculty members, staff, campus neighbors and all other interested individuals. Refreshments will be served.
Over the next 20 years, the university is planning to develop more high-quality, learning-centered residential communities on the east side of campus to serve a growing student population.
“We are hosting this open house early in the planning process to build a community vision of what the area might become and ensure a gentle transition to and from neighboring communities,” said Emily Eng, director of campus planning. “The conversations that begin at this event will be considered in the long-term plan for housing and infrastructure. The Next Generation Housing Plan is the beginning of a much longer planning process to update the university’s East Campus Plan to guide the growth of campus housing.”
The university is planning housing for first-year students, upper-division undergraduate students, graduate students and students with families. The project focuses on housing solutions that advance the goals of equitability, sustainability and student success.
The event is sponsored by the UO’s Office of Government and Community Relations and Campus Planning and Facilities Management.
