Oregon Law faculty, students to offer tips for car-buying at clinic

Want to get smarter about buying a new or used car?

The Consumer Protection Research Grant at the University of Oregon School of Law is offering a free educational clinic for UO employees at 4 p.m. Sept. 25. The public is also welcome to attend.

Professor Liz Tippett, the James O. and Alfred T. Goodwin Senior Fellow; Oregon Law alum Taylor Westlund, JD ’24, from Oregon Consumer Justice Law PC; and law students will facilitate the event, providing information on:

  • Understanding loan terms.
  • Spotting predatory practices in both used and new car-buying.
  • Practical negotiation tips.
  • Car-buyers’ legal rights.

The clinic is made possible by the Consumer Protection Research Grant, a fund earmarked for researching consumer issues in Oregon. It is managed at the law school.

Registration is not required for the clinic, which will be held in Room 142 at the Knight Law Center, 1515 Agate Street, Eugene.
