The University of Oregon community is invited to weigh in on proposed tuition and fee rates for the upcoming academic year at a public meeting this week. President Karl Scholz will hold a President’s Tuition Forum on Thursday, Feb. 15, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Erb Memorial Union Crater Lake Rooms.

The Tuition and Fee Advisory Board — made up of students, staff and faculty members — on Monday sent its recommended tuition and fee rates for the 2024-25 academic year to the president. As part of the annual tuition setting process, the advisory board held 10 public meetings during fall and winter terms and one public forum, co-hosted with the Associated Students of the University of Oregon in January. Once the president receives the tuition and fees recommendation, he will share it with faculty, staff and students via email prior to the forum.

University community members are also invited to send written feedback on the tuition recommendation. Input can be submitted using this online survey form until Feb 19. The form will also be available on the tuition website.  

The president will consider all the feedback from the forum and online form as he develops a final tuition and fees proposal for the UO Board of Trustees.

Once approved, the new tuition and mandatory fees rates will be set for the 2024-25 incoming class of undergraduate students for the next five years.

Under the Oregon Guarantee each class of undergraduate first-year and transfer students pay the same tuition rate and fees for five years. Undergraduate students who joined the UO prior to summer 2020, when the guaranteed tuition program was implemented, have had set three percent increases each year. Any remaining continuing students who started prior to the summer of 2020 who have not yet graduated will automatically be included in the 2020 tuition cohort for the 2024-25 academic year.

The Tuition and Fee Advisory Board also reviewed proposed tuition rate increases for graduate programs, which are not part of the Oregon Guarantee. Graduate tuition rates are also included in the tuition proposal forwarded by the president to the board for approval.  

The Board of Trustees is scheduled to vote on the president’s recommendations at the next board meeting, March 11-12.
