A planning team is close to wrapping up an in-depth look at campus open spaces and future building sites and will hold a final set of public meetings where the campus community can come and meet with members of the team.
The UO Campus Physical Framework Vision Project is an effort to add detail to the 2005 Campus Plan to better guide future space and landscape decisions. Work is expected to be complete by this coming winter term.
The final opportunities for campus and community members to participate in public discussions surrounding the Framework Vision Project will be held over the next two weeks.
Members of the campus and Eugene communities are invited to a lecture by well-known campus planners, architects and Framework Vision Project consultants Robert Sabbatini, Charles Brucker and Brodie Bain at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in Room 123 Pacific Hall. The free public lecture will discuss the Framework Vision Project and how its recommendations will help accommodate future growth and development while preserving the campus’ functionality and beauty.
Open houses for interested community members to meet with campus planning staff are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Willamette Hall Atrium; Monday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. noon in the Straub Hall Gabled Commons; and Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Lawrence Hall, location to be determined.
“The landscape is a character-defining element of our campus,” said Philip Farrington, the UO project planner for the Framework Vision Project. “The Framework Vision Project establishes a vision for improving the landscape armature that supports campus life, both academically and socially.”
The UO Campus Physical Framework Vision Project initiated in 2014 and is scheduled to conclude during the winter session of 2016.
