The Race Card Project – continue the UO conversation

NPR Special Correspondent Michele Norris spoke in a packed EMU Ballroom on Wednesday evening about her experience writing her family memoir, "The Grace of Silence," and her ongoing journey talking about race through The Race Card Project.

Now it's time to follow up on the University of Oregon campus and continue the conversation Norris began.

Student Affairs and the Center on Diversity and Community invite UO community members to participate in The Race Card Project by submitting six-word stories at drop boxes around campus (EMU, Knight Library, Law School, Jaqua Center, Student Rec Center, Health Center and Housing Service Desks) or online.

An online video offers more information on The Race Card Project, as does the Explore Identity website. A video of Norris' lecture can be seen on the UO Channel.

"Continue the Conversation" sessions to discuss "The Grace of Silence" and The Race Card Project will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18; and at noon and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20. All sessions will be in the Center on Diversity and Community office space at 54 Susan Campbell Hall. Those planning to attend should RSVP to  UOExploreidentity@gmail.com, to ensure adequate seating.

The Continue the Conversation sessions are open to all – attendance at the Michele Norris event is not required. A video of the evening will be posted on the Explore Identity website.
