Political writer and economist Robert Kuttner will visit Oregon for two events sponsored by the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics, both titled “Challenges for the New Administration.”
The first event will take place Monday, Nov. 14, at 5:30 p.m. at the White Stag Block in Portland. The second will be Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. in Room 175 Knight Law Center, Eugene. Both events are free and open to the public.
Kuttner, who held the Wayne Morse Chair in 2012-13, is the co-founder and co-editor of The American Prospect. He was a longtime columnist for BusinessWeek and continues to write columns for The Boston Globe as well as news organizations such as The Huffington Post and The New York Times. Kuttner also co-founded the Economic Policy Institute in Washington, D.C., and serves on its executive committee.
"Bob Kuttner is an incredibly gifted and insightful observer of American political and social life,” said Dan Tichenor, Philip H. Knight Professor of Social Science and director of the Wayne Morse Center’s Program for Democratic Engagement and Governance. “His powerful analysis of the 2016 election and economic populism make him an ideal person to take stock of the campaign and the prospects for post-Obama governance."
Kuttner’s visit wraps up the Wayne Morse Center’s speaker series on the 2016 election. The Portland event is co-sponsored by the UO School of Journalism and Communication in Portland, UO Portland, UO Law Portland and UO Department of Political Science. The event in Eugene is co-sponsored by the UO Department of Political Science.
