Save the date and join the Division of Equity and Inclusion for the 2022 annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration and Awards Ceremony on Jan. 13, 2022.
The event will be a hybrid virtual and in-person event. The virtual event will be prerecorded and premiere Jan. 13 at 11 a.m. with a live chat. Watch parties will be held on both the Eugene and Portland UO campuses.
This year’s theme is “Amplifying Voices for Racial Solidarity and Equity.” Organizers say the theme is intended to inspire the UO community during a difficult time and to serve as a reminder of both individual and collective responsibility to fight injustices and support each another. In King’s words, “You are not only responsible for what you say, but also for what you do not say.”
The virtual program will feature tributes and speakers and will celebrate this year’s award winners and nominees. It will premiere with a live chat on the day of the event. The program can be found on the Division of Equity and Inclusion website and YouTube channel.
Register by Jan. 5, 2022, to attend a watch party. Capacity is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. RSVP online for the watch party on the Eugene campus or for the Portland campus. Boxed lunches will be provided.
