The Bike Commute Challenge sponsored by the Bicycle Transportation Alliance started Sept. 1 and will continue through the end of the month.
The challenge is a competition that encourages participants to bike to work. Any employee can register individually, or with colleagues.
Once you register, simply log all your bike commutes to and from work on the Bike Commute Challenge webpage. At the end of each week prizes are given out to the best teams. Other incentives include discounts available at bike shops and the health benefits of biking to work.
The BTA is a non-profit membership organization founded in 1990 with the goal of promoting bicycling and improving conditions for cyclists in Oregon. The Bike Commute Challenge is one of many events that the BTA puts on annually; last year there were more than 12,000 participants, and the number is expected to grow this year.
Participants can update the BTA and fellow cyclists with the hashtag #bikemore. Registration remains open.
