Make a note of University of Oregon winter break campus closures and reduced hours to keep your holiday planning and activities on schedule.
For University of Oregon students and many faculty members, winter vacation runs Dec. 14-Jan. 5. The law school’s final exams finish Dec. 18. The Office of Human Resources provides guidance on paid holidays for various work groups and how that affects staffing.
Campus Planning and Facilities Management has information on holiday closures and major projects, including Hayward Field and the Hamilton and Walton Hall Transformation Project on the department’s construction and impacts map. Contact the Work Control Center in regards to building closures.
Parking spaces may be easier to find, but all campus lots will be patrolled as usual. Transportation Services will be closed Dec. 24-25, 31 and Jan. 1.
Take care not to leave smelly trash in your work space over the holidays. The Zero Waste Program will be closed Dec. 23-26 and Dec. 30-Jan. 1. Garbage Services will run modified routes on some of the days.
The Erb Memorial Union will operate with scaled-back hours and be closed the weekend of Dec. 14-15. Starting Dec. 21 until Jan. 1 the building will not be open. The EMU reopens on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 7 a.m.
ID Card Services will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Dec. 16-20 and Jan. 2-3. Not all vendors and services will be operating during the times the EMU is open. Refer to the website for the latest schedule.
For those working on publication jobs over the winter break, Printing and Mailing Services at the Baker Center will be closed Dec. 12 from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1.
On-campus dining options will be reduced. See the Food on Campus map to find campus coffee spots and EMU restaurants, including their hours. All residence hall dining venues will be closed after 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, with limited options reopening Jan. 4.
The University Health Center is open for patient care Dec. 16-20, 9 a.m. to noon. They will be closed to patients from Dec. 23-Jan. 5. Administrative closures will be on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. The dental clinic will also have special hours.
University Counseling Center’s after-hours support and crisis line is always available at 541-346-3227. The University Testing Center is closed on UO-observed holidays and Dec. 24. Be aware of ongoing internal renovations.
Check out your holiday collection of books and movies before the Knight Library is closed on Saturdays and Sundays, starting Dec. 14. In January, they will be closed on the 1st and 4th. Regular operating hours resume on Monday, Jan. 6.
Other libraries will follow a similar schedule, including the Price Science Commons, Design Library and UO Portland. Special Collections and University Archives will operate with reduced hours and closures on weekends, Dec. 21-31 and Jan. 1, while the Math Library will be closed for three weeks. The library computing labs in the EMU and McKenzie Hall also will be closed while students are away.
The Technology Service Desk will be closed on Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1, with no remote support available. From Dec. 16 through Jan. 5 remote support will be available by phone at 541-346-4357 or live chat from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. In-person support in Room 068, Prince Lucien Campbell Hall will be available Monday-Friday. Regular remote support hours of 6 a.m.-2 a.m. daily resume Jan. 6.
Two other units that recently moved from UO Libraries to Information Services will be closed for portions of winter break. The Equipment Checkout desk in Knight Library will close Dec. 18-Jan. 1 while Media Services will close Dec. 23-27.
The last day of normal operation for the UO ride programs is Dec. 13. All programs will restart Monday, Jan. 6. Ride-hailing services will operate as usual while some LTD buses serving campus may have limited schedules.
Plan your preholiday workouts around the Student Recreation Center’s modified hours. It will be closed on Dec. 14-15, 21-25, Dec. 28 to Jan. 1 and Jan. 4.
The Duck Store campus location closes one hour earlier during winter break and will be closed on Christmas and New Year's Day. The stores in the EMU, law school and rec center are closed Dec. 21-Jan. 1.
Winter term starts Monday, Jan. 6.
