The Division of Student Affairs has announced that the department will officially become the Division of Student Life on July 1, bringing the name in line with the division’s mission.
More than just a name change, however, the division’s staff is eager to provide students with a Division of Student Life experience that supports and empowers them to connect, discover and excel beyond the classroom.
Many students participate in the division’s programs and use its services; however, a recent survey of UO students indicated that the majority don’t know those programs and services are actually part of the division.
The division believes that “Student Life” better describes – and more easily explains – the work that the division does every day to create an exceptional experience for every student.
In addition, the new UO Board of Trustees established an Academic and Student Affairs committee that covers programs and services broader than the division. The name “Student Life” not only better describes the division’s work; it also differentiates the division from the Board of Trustees’ committee.
