A staggered set of signup dates opens May 18 for University of Oregon employees who want renew or purchase parking permits for summer term.
Employees who drive to the Eugene campus can purchase a summer academic term parking permit online. Parking lots are divided into 10 zones by location, and permits are offered at three price points. Permits can be purchased for an academic term or a 30-day duration.
Current spring permit holders can renew starting May 18 at 10 a.m. During a “swap week” starting May 26, existing term permit holders who have not renewed their permit have the option to purchase a permit for any available parking zone. Sales to employees who currently do not hold a permit start June 1.
Spring term permits become active June 22. Payroll deduction will be available until June 8 at 10 a.m.
Transportation options
Transportation Services encourages employees to consider free options of getting to campus if possible. Options include using Lane Transit District buses, or walking or riding a bicycle or scooter. Bike registration is free and strongly encouraged. LTD Park and Ride is a great way to save money on a UO parking permit; park for free and hop on the bus to work. Another way drivers can save on vehicle wear and tear is carpool or vanpool. Any commuter zone permit may be shared between multiple individuals as long as only one vehicle is parked on campus each day. To find a carpool, UO employees can use Get There Oregon to connect with other UO employees as well as earn commute rewards.
To remove barriers to not having a car on campus, the UO offers an emergency ride home program in the event of a qualifying emergency.
Summer projects and events
Throughout the summer months, parking lot painting will take place on select weekends and may temporarily affect access to portions of campus parking areas. In addition, Lot 43 is scheduled for repaving work and will be fully closed for about a month starting May 18.
Several major track and field events are also scheduled throughout the summer and are expected to require temporary parking lot closures and parking modifications near event venues. While some parking plans are still being finalized, similar events in past years have included closures of some campus lots and changes to normal parking operations in surrounding areas.
Transportation Services will work with campus partners and event organizers to provide advance communication regarding parking changes, alternate parking options and access adjustments as plans are finalized.
