The Board of Trustees of the University of Oregon will have a theme of how information technology supports and expands academic excellence throughout its meetings on Dec. 7 and 8, when the committees and full board meet in the Ford Alumni Center.

Several updates are scheduled touching on tech, from the Presidential Initiative in Data Science, to planning for online and hybrid education, and the evolution of information technology services and infrastructure across campus.

Bill Cresko, professor of biology and associate vice president of research and director of the Presidential Initiative in Data Science, will provide the Academic and Student Affairs Committee (ASAC) an overview of the new presidential initiative  which has the potential to reach all corners of the UO academic community.

The future direction of online and hybrid education will also be a focus of ASAC, as Scott Pratt, executive vice provost, Adriene Lim, dean of UO libraries, and Jessie Minton, chief information officer, share the vision under development in the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs.

The Executive and Audit Committee will hear about the evolution of the infrastructure and staffing to support these initiatives and core campus IT needs, as Minton provides an information technology status update, highlighting recent investments and initiatives relating to Transform IT, which seeks to better leverage resources across campus.
