The Board of Trustees of the University of Oregon is inviting faculty and nonfaculty staff to meet members of the governing board in early June. The meetings will take place on Thursday, June 4 and Friday, June 5.
The board recently began holding small, informal discussions with members of the UO community to get to know and engage individuals more directly and to share information on the priorities, challenges and opportunities facing both trustees and university employees.
In March, trustees met with students and faculty. At the upcoming June meeting, the board would like to meet with faculty and nonfaculty staff from across campus. The nonfaculty employee conversations will occur from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. on June 4. The faculty discussions will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on June 5.
“These conversations will provide trustees with the opportunity to hear directly about the many ways faculty and other employees work to support and strengthen the university,” said Angela Wilhelms, university secretary.
Each meeting will include two or three trustees and eight to 12 faculty or nonfaculty employees depending on how many individuals sign up.
Lunch is not provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch to the informal conversation for nonfaculty employees during the lunch hour. If necessary, board staff will work with the supervisors of employees who would normally be working during this time to attempt to arrange for participation.
The sign-up deadline is May 25 for faculty and nonfaculty employees. To take part, email Amanda Hatch, ahatch@uoregon.edu, with name, phone number, job classification, department or program and years of service.
If there is more interest than can be accommodated in the June 4 conversations, priority will be given to those with whom board members have not yet interacted and others will be considered for future opportunities.
