Stephanie Jordan, a research professor in dance at London’s University of Roehampton, will be visiting the UO campus during the first week of March for a scholarly residency.
The UO School of Music and Dance has named Jordan a 2015 Trotter Visiting Professor and her visit is facilitated by the school’s THEME Colloquium. She will be leading discussions at two free public events on campus while in Eugene.
On Wednesday, March 4, Jordan will give a lecture titled “Mark Morris: Choreographer and Musician” which will take place at 3 p.m. in Room 167 of the Frohnmayer Music Building. The talk will explore the relationship between music and dance through Morris’ “music visualizations.”
On Thursday, March 5, Jordan will address the Student Forum of the UO School of Music and Dance regarding composer Igor Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring” orchestral concert and ballet, in a lecture titled “Rites of Spring: A Century of Tradition.” The forum will take place at 1 p.m. in Room 178 of the Frohnmayer Music Building.
