Moving an estimated 4,000 new Ducks into 10 residence halls in the span of one day requires a cadre of volunteers in matching shirts ready to lend a hand or an ear.
Unpack the Quack takes place Thursday, Sept. 20, during move-in week. Faculty and staff members can sign up online for one or more 2½-hour shifts as a mover or a greeter. University Housing provides a free meal and T-shirt as thanks to registered volunteers who welcome fresh arrivals and help them move into their new home away from home.
New this year is the opportunity for UO departments working with Academic Residential Communities the option to volunteer with their communities. Other staff volunteers can help with this early move-in too.
Registration and training for Unpack the Quack is available online.
Anyone having trouble signing up or have questions, please call the housing front desk at 541-346-4277 or email housing@uoregon.edu.
