The University of Oregon has launched a national search for a permanent vice president for student life.
The vice president leads the Division of Student Life, which is broadly responsible for supporting students throughout their UO experience.
President Karl Scholz has appointed a search committee that is seeking stakeholder input as the search gets underway. The position description, once finalized, will be posted to the search page on the Office of the President website. Additional updates about the process will be published on the site as available. The broader campus community, including students, will have the opportunity to interact with finalists as they are brought to campus.
Kris Winter has served as interim vice president for student life since July 2022. She previously held the position of associate vice president for student life and dean of students.
President Scholz said, in his fall announcement about the search, that he is grateful for her leadership.
"I appreciate the wisdom and stability Kris has provided during a time of transition at the university and as we embark on a search for a permanent vice president."
The vice president serves as a member of the university's senior leadership team and works alongside other vice presidents, vice provosts and deans to advance the mission and goals of the university.
Offices within the Division of Student Life include the Office of the Dean of Students, the Erb Memorial Union, the Department of Physical Education and Recreation, and the University Career Center.
