Adriene Lim, dean of the UO Libraries, has accepted a position to lead the University of Maryland’s library system, where she will become the dean of University Libraries based at the College Park campus.

Her last day at the UO will be July 8.

Lim, who is also a Philip H. Knight Chair, came to UO in July 2014 to lead UO Libraries. Under her stewardship, Lim provided the libraries with strategic and collaborative leadership, and helped transform the system into a strong and vibrant institution, said Provost and Senior Vice President Jayanth Banavar.

“Adriene has completed a number of strategic initiatives and collaborated with her colleagues to enhance our teaching, learning and research across campus,” Banavar said in a message sent to UO Libraries faculty and staff on Tuesday. “She has been the backbone behind UO Libraries strategic planning, implementing many initiatives that greatly improved infrastructure, programs, services, and systems for us all. She will do great things at the University of Maryland and I am proud of her accomplishments.”

Banavar said he plans to name an interim dean by the end of June. The Office of the Provost will coordinate efforts to conduct a search to find Lim’s permanent replacement, with a search likely to begin this fall when the new academic year is underway.
