The University of Oregon’s graduate programs in education, law and business are once again highly regarded by U.S. News & World Report in the 2023 graduate school rankings.

The UO College of Education’s special education program is ranked No. 3 in the nation for the 23rd year in a row and is No. 2 among public schools. The college’s overall graduate program is ranked No. 7 among public institutions and No. 14 among all schools nationwide, a standing boosted in part due to the college’s record-high year in funded research: $53.6 million.

The University of Oregon School of Law climbed five points to No. 67 from last year’s No. 72 rank, the highest score in at least two decades. The school remains No. 1 in the state. Strong employment and bar passage results for the class of 2020 were key drivers in Oregon Law’s rise in the overall rankings, along with the excellence of its student body. Oregon Law is now rated in the nation’s top 35 percent and remains a top law school in the Pacific Northwest..

The Lundquist College of Business has moved up steadily in each of the last four years, improving to No. 72 in 2023 from last year’s No. 92. The Flex MBA, which enables people who already have undergraduate degrees in certain fields to complete an MBA on a part-time basis, ranked No. 69.

The rankings are included in the 2023 edition of Best Graduate Schools, which rates the nation’s business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing schools and programs every year. Periodically the publication also ranks other disciplines and specialties. For 2023, the UO’s graduate programs also had rankings in earth sciences (No. 33), psychology (No. 46), mathematics (No. 53), physics (No. 58), chemistry (No. 62), biological sciences (No. 68), planning, public policy and management (No. 70) and computer science (No. 74).
