University of Oregon researchers and professionals are encouraged to submit applications for Fulbright U.S. Scholar grants for teaching and research abroad.
In the past five years, 14 UO faculty members have received Fulbright grants for travel to 13 countries. Academics and professionals have until Aug. 3 to submit applications for next year’s grant program.
“Fulbright Scholars create meaningful and invaluable global connections in areas such as environmental issues, food security, public health, education,” said Dennis Galvan, vice provost for international affairs, in an email message. “These connections transcend borders, bridging geographic and cultural boundaries.”
More than 800 teaching and research grants are available in more than 125 countries for the 2016-17 academic year. For those who do not have sufficient sabbatical leave, many awards offer a flex option that allows the grant to be used over two or three short-term stays.
The Fulbright Scholar Program website includes an awards catalog and information on eligibility, applications and review criteria.
