UOPD plans active shooter response drill Dec. 12

The University of Oregon Police Department will conduct an active threat training exercise with Johnson Hall building occupants on Thursday, Dec. 12, between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.

All training will be done inside the building. Johnson Hall will be closed and locked during the drill. No one will be allowed to enter. Signs indicating that a drill is occurring will be placed at entrances and exits.

Passersby may see police vehicles nearby and uniformed officers entering and exiting the building. Some loud sounds may be heard.

Regular training and exercises are vital to developing and maintaining key emergency response skills and are critical to the overall safety and security of the campus.

Even with advance knowledge, those passing Johnson Hall may experience adverse reactions because of the sights and sounds that will be part of the training.
