The primary software for connecting to the University of Oregon's virtual private network will get a noticeable update on July 13.
The first time people connect to UO VPN after about 6:30 a.m. that day, the Cisco AnyConnect Security Mobility Client — also known as AnyConnect — will download and install a quick update.
Although the update process itself may be familiar, this particular upgrade will bring changes to the application's logo, look and feel, and name, which will become Cisco Secure Client.
Mac users whose docks include a shortcut to AnyConnect will find the shortcut stops working after the update has been installed. They can create a shortcut to the new Cisco Secure Client by visiting the Cisco folder within the Applications folder, then dragging the new icon into the dock.
Mobile devices may already have been updated with the new version of the app.
Anyone with questions can submit a ticket through the UO VPN support page in the UO Service Portal, contact the IT staff who support their unit or contact the Technology Service Desk.
