The Oregon women's basketball team will join in the effort to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research when they wear pink Play 4 Kay pink uniforms and shoes on Friday against USC.

The women's basketball program will be raising money with proceeds going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Oregon raised over $218,000 for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund when the football program auctioned off 25 pink helmets worn against Washington State. The Play 4 Kay women's basketball games around the country have raised over $2 million since starting in 2007 and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund in general has raised over $8 million. 

For Friday's game against USC, the Ducks are offering $5 general admission tickets to fans who wear pink to the arena.

There will be $2 raffle tickets available for a chance to win a custom pair of the pink Nike shoes the team will be wearing in the game (photo to right). Cheerleaders will also be throwing pink rubber ducks into the crowd after made three-pointers. 

Fans who wish to make donations individually can visit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund online. 

The Ducks will also wear different pink uniforms on Monday night against UCLA.

About the Kay Yow Cancer Fund
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was officially founded on Dec. 3, 2007, from the vision of the organization’s namesake Kay Yow, former North Carolina State women’s basketball head coach. Kay Yow was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and passed away on Jan. 24, 2009, after facing her third bout with the disease. Before her death, she joined forces with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation for Cancer Research to form the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women’s cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.
