Calling all chronic window shoppers and food-cart lovers: It's almost time for the spring version of the Associated Students of the University of Oregon Street Faire, complete with food trucks, vendors and some new activities.
This year’s Spring Street Faire festivities will run from Wednesday, May 10, through Friday, May 12. The fair will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Fair-goers can expect to see many of their favorite attractions, such as the bonsai trees, a variety of fried meats and dough, and great vintage finds.
Abbie Wrenn, ASUO secretary of events, has been heavily involved in the planning of this spring’s Street Faire, including bringing in new aspects of the event.
“I have tried to add vendors that I think students will respond to, and I have also tried to implement changes that would address student feedback to the best of my ability,” Wrenn said.
Wrenn said they have increased the area where vendors will be hosted, which allows for additional vendors to participate in the faire. This spring, more than 50 vendors will be attending.
"I love the Street Faire because it brings the student body together, which helps foster and build community,” Wrenn said. “It's also just fun to experience a little variation on campus."
Most Wanted Espresso will be at the fair for the first time. Dawn Brandon, a UO alum and owner of the business, is excited to be a part of this spring’s Street Faire.
“I’m looking forward to it and all the fabulous energy the university students have,” said Brandon, who anticipates that some of her fun-flavored teas and lattes will be fan favorites at the fair. “My hibiscus blackberry tea is delicious, and you can't forget iced green tea with peach. Right now, my Snickers and Almond Joy lattes sell really well,” she said.
In addition to vendors, UO student organizations will be performing in the Erb Memorial Union amphitheater. Event organizers anticipate having at least one live performance each day of the fair.
“We are hoping this will be one of the biggest Street Faires in recent memory,” Wrenn said.
