Fountain is the author of an award-winning collection of short stories as well as an acclaimed debut novel.

University of Oregon alumni who are leaders in the technology sector will be featured at the seventh annual Career Conversations event from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, at the White Stag Block in Portland. “Ducks in Tech” is an opportunity to get insider information about the growing technology sector in Portland.

The panel includes Paul Slovic, UO professor of psychology and a leading researcher on decision-making during times of genocide and mass atrocity.

TEDx programs started in the mid 1980s to explore technology, entertainment and design, and TEDx Portland started in 2011. The UO is this year's presenting sponsor.

U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden will receive the 14th annual Frohnmayer Award for Public Service at a reception following the symposium. Both events are in Portland.
