The 2024-25 African American Workshop and Lecture Series begins on Nov. 7 with New York Times bestselling author and journalist Victor Luckerson discussing “Beyond Voting: Models for Civic Action From Tulsa’s Black Wall Street.”
In this timely and relevant talk, Luckerson will share three models of civic engagement that the Black community in Greenwood, Oklahoma, used to safeguard and advance democracy as well as justice for all. Indeed, they are possible ways for all of us to think innovatively, creatively and with hope about the promise of healthy civic engagement now and in the future.
Attendees are encouraged to RSVP for the 11:30 a.m. lecture that takes place in the Papé Reception Hall of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art on the University of Oregon Eugene campus.
This is the first of five talks in the annual series sponsored by the Division of Equity and Inclusion.
