Scenario No. 1: Your coworkers want to hop the EmX to eat lunch in downtown Springfield. As the bus pulls up, you are still fiddling with dollar bills at the fare machine telling your coworkers to go ahead and you’ll catch the next one.
Scenario No. 2: “After-work you” thinks walking or biking home after a long day would be a lovely way to wind down. “Morning you” cannot fathom adding 40 minutes to your hectic routine.
Scenario No. 3: You’re trying to save for summer vacation and having that extra money from not buying a parking pass would really come in handy.
The simple solution? A free Lane Transit District bus pass. All faculty, staff and students have access to a free ride. The easy two-step process starts with obtaining a benefit code through University of Oregon Transportation Services, then downloading the Umo app or picking up a Touchpass tap card.
Starting May 15, all EmX riders will be required to pay or validate fare upon boarding. This fare program was originally scheduled for February.
A recent Umo app update logged out users from their accounts. Employees do not need to create a new account and can contact the LTD customer service center at 541-687-5555 if they cannot get logged back in.
LTD operates 24 park and ride lots located near bus stops where drivers can park for free.
There are a few LTD summer service changes starting June 15. Several routes do not operate during summer including Route 79x – UO/Kinsrow. At the Springfield Station, the two bays where the EmX departs will swap the Eugene and Springfield bus boarding locations.
Have an opinion about your bus-riding experience? The LTD customer satisfaction survey is open through May 19.
