Three candidates will come to campus between Monday, Feb. 21 and Friday, March 4, in as part of the University of Oregon’s national search for the next vice president for research and innovation.

The VPRI oversees most of the university’s multidisciplinary research centers and institutes, strategic research initiatives and partnerships, research infrastructure and administration, compliance and regulatory environment, and innovation and commercialization efforts.

“Our chief research officer plays a critical leadership role in the continuing growth and prominence of the research and scholarly mission of the UO," said Patrick Phillips, provost and senior vice president. “I’m thrilled to be bringing three very experienced and talented candidates to campus.”

Each candidate will host a public talk during their time on campus where they will answer questions and speak about their experience and interest in the position. Faculty members, staff and students will be given the opportunity to meet and speak with the finalists at a point throughout their visit. Those who cannot attend the public talk in person can join virtually over Zoom.

Details about each candidate will be released in advance of their visit to the Office of the Provost website. Community members are encouraged to submit feedback on the candidates through online surveys, which will also be posted on the website.

The search committee is chaired by Darren Johnson, director of the Materials Science Institute, and includes a broad range of stakeholders. The committee partnered with Isaacson, Miller to ensure a broad search yielding a diverse pool of well-qualified candidates.
