On Friday, April 26, two state legislators will host a town hall meeting for the campus community to speak out on issues of concern.

Participants are Sen. James Manning, who represents north Eugene, west Eugene, Santa Clara and Junction City; and Rep. Marty Wilde, who represents central Lane and Linn counties, including the University of Oregon campus and surrounding neighborhoods.

This is an opportunity for students, faculty members, staff and others on campus who care about issues facing both the state and the UO to share thoughts on funding, tuition and other topics with state leaders.

“Students today are incredibly engaged with what is going on in their community and their nation,” Wilde said. “Our students are our future. I have drafted a bill to increase funding for higher education so that students can get their education without acquiring crippling debt.”

The town hall will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the Knight Library Browsing Room.

“Town hall meetings are a core component of the democratic process,” Manning said. “I encourage everyone on campus who is available over the lunch hour to attend and make their voice heard on a variety of issues that impact the lives of students and the university.”

No RSVP is necessary, and all are welcome.
