It’s not too late to take on a New Year’s resolution. A new series of Weight Watchers meetings begins Thursday, Feb. 8, providing benefit-eligible University of Oregon employees free support in reaching weight-loss goals and improving their overall health.
Weight Watchers at Work brings the Weight Watchers experience to campus, where a trained leader facilitates meetings that provide a support-group environment shown to help meet weight-loss goals. The UO campus Weight Watchers sessions happen weekly on Thursdays.
Each 13-week session requires preregistration, and a new participant may only begin attending meetings at the start of a new session. The new session that begins Feb. 8 is open to all benefit-eligible employees as an informational presentation and opportunity to register for future attendance.
No commitment or enrollment in Weight Watchers is required. Employees should bring an insurance ID card to the meeting to complete the registration process if they decide to join. The next opportunity to join the UO Weight Watchers at Work group will be later in the spring.
The Public Employees Benefit Board offers Weight Watchers as part of the benefits program. Employees eligible for PEBB coverage and their covered spouses, domestic partners and dependents age 10 and older can enroll in Weight Watchers at no cost. Several options are available, such as access to weekly meetings and online tools.
Information about the program and registration instructions are provided on the Weight Watchers webpage on the Human Resources website.
