Members of United Academics, the union representing faculty members, has ratified the extension of the collective bargaining contract agreement with the university. The new contract extends the current collective bargaining agreement for two years, expiring on June 30, 2020.

“This agreement reflects the collegial relationship we have all worked so hard to build,” said Scott Pratt, executive vice provost for academic affairs. “I am delighted that our collaborative approach and commitment to results delivered a resolution well in advance of the expiration of the current contract.”

Terms of the contract extension focused on an economic package including cost-of-living increases each year, a salary pool to address equity and salary increases based on merit in the second year of the extension. No other substantive changes to contract language were made, Pratt said.

“This extension reflects our desire to sustain salary growth and stability while beginning to correct observed inequities, even amid a highly constrained state and university budget context,” said Michael Dreiling, president of United Academics. “All in all, the agreement is a smart solution in tough budgetary times.”
