Campus interviews and meetings for three finalists for the University of Oregon’s next chief of police have concluded, but feedback on the candidates can be submitted through the end of the month.
James Miyashiro, senior director of safety operations at the University of LaVerne in California visited July 12. Matthew Carmichael, chief of police at the University of California, Davis, visited July 15. Brenda Trobaugh, deputy chief of police at California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo visited July 25.
Each candidate gave a public presentation and held question-and-answer sessions with students, faculty and staff. Anyone who saw the candidates can submit feedback online until 11 p.m. Sunday, July 31, through the following links:

Members of the police chief search committee will review feedback and make a recommendation to Associate Vice President Andre Le Duc, the UO chief resilience officer who oversees UOPD as part of the Safety and Risk Services portfolio. Any employment offer for the job will be contingent on completion of a thorough background check.
