The UO Libraries has recognized three individuals as recipients of High Jump Awards for 2013. The award is part of a peer recognition program that honors exceptional contributions, achievements, and endeavors of anyone serving the library as an employee, volunteer, or student assistant.

The University of Oregon is grieving the loss of a woman of tireless energy and enthusiasm with the unexpected death June 18 of Cathleen Leué, director of information technology for the College of Arts and Sciences. She was 56.

There will be a public celebration of her life at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Musgrove Funeral Home, 1152 Olive St., Eugene.

The University of Oregon undergraduate’s most recent milestone: being named an “Inspirational Leader” in Oregon who is representing the Willamette Valley in the Conference on Volunteering and Service in Washington, D.C. in June.

The conference is the world's largest gathering of volunteer and service leaders from the nonprofit, corporate and government sectors.

After practicing law for seven years, Oregon School of Law alumna and Eugene native Mary Thompson has taken the writing skills she developed at law school and in the courtroom to New York, where she now dedicates herself to full-time writing and copy-editing.

In 2012, Clarion Books published Thompson's first novel, “Wuftoom,” a young adult horror-fantasy novel about a sickly teenager visited by a worm-like creature that tells him he is becoming one of them.
