Experts from the University of Oregon's Museum of Natural and Cultural History will be on hand to help identify artifacts, fossils and other puzzling items when the museum hosts its annual Identification Day and Roadshow from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday, April 27.

Visitors can bring objects such as fossils, rocks or handmade artifacts to the museum, where a panel of experts will help identify them.

This year's event will also feature roadshow workshops in basketry, flint-knapping and more.

Registration is open for a seminar that will be taught by UO English professor Paul Peppis on 20^th-century literature, providing the public with an experience in intellectual engagement that is the hallmark of a university education.

UO Insight Seminars, a program offered by the UO Libraries, were established in 2003 to provide an opportunity for the general public to reengage with the liberal arts.

Vox Resonat – an ensemble of vocal soloists specializing in music of the Baroque, Renaissance and Middle Ages – will perform in Eugene at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 22 at Central Lutheran Church and in Silverton at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, at Mt. Angel Abbey.

Vox Resonat’s newest program, “Penitentia,” features Renaissance masterpieces written for Lent and Passiontide, including penitential psalms, motets and lamentations, composed by Tallis, Lassus, Josquin, Gombert, Mouton and Rebelo.

The UO Libraries will host a Discover Music Sale and a Music Services Intro on Wednesday, April 3, and Thursday, April 4, offering a variety of vintage records and other forms of music.

The combined events will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., each day in the Knight Library’s Browsing Room, 1501 Kincaid Street, on the UO campus.

This year's 4th annual UO Alumni Women’s Roundtable drew a record turnout of almost 100 attendees earlier this month for a panel presentation that focused on negotiating for pay, promotion and flexibility.

The roundtable, held at the White Stag Block, was free for UO students and 2012 graduates and open to the public with a registration fee. Its four-woman panel – all UO alums – came from a variety of professional backgrounds.

University of Oregon School of Music and Dance faculty members Dean Kramer and Claire Wachter will perform a free, two-piano concert at Steinway Hall in New York City at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28.

Titled “Broadway Meets Steinway,” the concert will feature George Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess” and Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story Dances,” as well as other great works for two pianos.

Two sprawling murals that have been with UO Libraries since its opening in 1937 are getting a second look.

The Digital Scholarship Center and UO Libraries have launched an art project on murals by Oregon artists Albert and Arthur Runquist that depict figures and ideas about race and ethnicity that some may no longer find acceptable.
