Ruggeri shares sustainability expertise at Morocco consortium

Sustainable cities aren’t a concept specific to Eugene or even the United States.

Deni Ruggeri, UO assistant professor of landscape architecture, is involved in bringing them to a destination halfway around the world: Morocco.

Ruggeri will speak at the conference “New Medina: from Pilot Towns to Sustainable Cities,” in Morocco from June 9 to 13. The consortium is the culmination of a multiyear project that assembles experts and stakeholders to share planning strategies for the creation of sustainable “new towns” in Morocco, Algeria and Egypt.

UOPD releases sketch of campus office burglary suspect

A witness description has helped the University of Oregon Police Department create a sketch of a potential suspect in a string of burglaries in campus offices.

One or more thieves have broken into faculty and staff offices in Gerlinger, Lawrence, Anstett and Willamette halls, using a tool to pry open office doors and steal computers and other electronics. Ten similar incidents were reported between April 26 and May 23, usually occurring between 6 p.m. and midnight.

The Crystal Apple is an annual award given to three outstanding professors who are nominated by students and colleagues. This year’s winners are Richard York from Sociology, Sara Hodges from Psychology, and Colin Koopman from Philosophy.

Student ad wins national competition

Everybody has met that couple: The one who spends and the one who stresses out about the spending.

SOJC advertising student Dan Drullinger tapped into that collective consciousness to win the Allstate Life Tracks Ad Competition. His team's ad “Honey Look What I Got” portrays the relationship dynamic between an over-spender and his slightly concerned fiancé.

The ad was released nationally across multiple online platforms in May.
