“I got sent out to Winco because Peter DeFazio was there, showing how much food you can really buy with a week’s worth of welfare money,” Pittenger said. “There were all these other news stations there. I interviewed DeFazio, filmed, and headed back and wrote the story.”

New software will streamline curriculum development
Hundreds of new or revised courses are proposed every year at the UO. And for each, faculty and staff must go through a lengthy, multi-step review.
CourseLeaf, a new software tool in the Office of Academic Affairs, is expected to streamline the process of curriculum development.
The office has adopted the curriculum management software to streamline what it calls “the cumbersome and confusing course and curriculum proposal process.”

University of Oregon fundraising tops $200 million
Giving to the University of Oregon surpassed the $200 million mark for fiscal year 2013, a banner year highlighted by a significant increase in gift commitments providing student, faculty and research support.
The university received gift commitments totaling $200,054,995, the second highest one-year total in the UO’s history. Individuals, companies and foundations contributed 41,460 gifts and pledges, helping to propel the university’s endowment to a record level.
